Nine teams lined up along the lanes at Kettering Bowling Alley on Friday night. You could hear spaghetti western music playing in the background. They chose their balls and were ready for the challenge. The
Split Happens team foretold their future. The
Lady Golfers were waiting for golf season. It was clear their game was on the links not the hard wood. The
Blind Flamingos couldn't find the lanes and had to settle for the gutter. They were in good company with
The Gutter Girls. The
Bowling Birdies gave it a go but they were no match for the
Strikeapotumuses, who rolled out to an early lead. The "
Strikes...", made up of Barb Patrick, Susan Hogan, Roya Loughran, and Sandi Fondersmith, were bowling well but getting stiff competition though from the
Split Ends.

The
Split Ends had put together a formidable team in Becky Rogers, Mary Rice, Patti Bogden, and Tara Hudson, but going into the 10th frame of the final game they were just a few pins behind the
Strikeapotumuses. Everyone had bowled except one last bowler. Mary Rice stepped on to the pine for the Split Ends. It was up to her to get a strike and roll her team over the Strikeapotumuses for the win. She steadied the ball and took a bead on the head pin at the end of the lane. (insert spaghetti western whistles here) All lanes were busy chatting but her team and the "Strikes..." were definitely watching her every move while forgetting to breathe.
Finally she let it roll. The ball flew down the groove! It smashed into the pocket! Pins flew everywhere! The clatter was deafening! When all settled there were none standing. Mary rolled a 191 final game to shoot the
Split Ends past the
Strikeapotumuses for the win!
Lyn Montgomery and her team put together another great event! Thanks to them!
