PRESIDENT'S CORNER

What an awesome month for Middle Tn. EWGA!
We enjoyed a perfect night at the Nashville Sounds game.  Donna Ruggles even made it more perfect meeting a very special young man and making a life-long impression on him.  Thank you Donna for being so thoughtful and kind and being the best cheer-leader I've seen in a long time.  Can't believe the Sounds management didn't offer you a season pass just to come to the games!  Thanks Karen Richards for getting all this together and getting us the best seats in the house!
Then we had 32 players come and enjoy Ted Rhodes this past Saturday.  Even with the threatening storms in the area, we had a great day and then several of us met and ate Barbecue.  Thanks to Vicki Beaver for getting this together.  Make sure you sign up for Windtree Golf Course on June 9th...that's an awesome course with it's challenges too!
Our McCabe league on Wednesday's is going stronger than ever!  We have 5 tee times starting around 4:20pm and they are usually full, so sign up early so if we need to get more tee times we will.  We usually meet at the "Pub" for drinks and dinner afterwards, but this week, May 23rd, we are heading over the Mary Beth Treadways for drinks and fingerfoods for some socializing!  Thanks Mary Beth!
We had our first Tn. Pass Key get together this past Friday afternoon at Nashboro Village.  Might I say that it is in great shape and they want us back.  Remember, you don't have to have a Pass Key Book to play with us, but they sure do save you money most of the time. Many thanks to Kim Crowder for taking care of this week day play.
Hermitage Sunday League is great...we have a great time and what a great price!  Best course anywhere in Tn. and they treat us like we should be treated!
Now, if you didn't see something that you could play in or a time that is good for you...let us know and we need more volunteers to get other leagues going.
Mark you calendar for July 1st (Sunday) and sign up for:MIDDLE TENNESSEE CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP.  It will be played at Hermitage on the President's side!  Plan to plan or volunteer...I would rather play golf than watch golf myself!!  I just sent in my registration; it needs to be in two weeks before the playdate, so my June 16th.
Once again, you make our chapter a success.  If there is anything we can look at to make it better, don't hesitate to email me and we'll take a look at it and see what we can do.

Make sure you go to the chapter site regularly and see what's going on.

"WELCOME TO GOLF MONTH"

May is the PGA's "Welcome to Golf Month" and we want to help you play more golf. We have started our "Kids Play Free" program as of the first of this month. Any kid 17 or under will play FREE with a paying adult - any day after 5pm. Please call the golf shop for tee times and availability.

Also, our next session of Get Golf Ready starts next Tuesday the 15th of May. This is, hands down, the best beginner program on the planet. If you already play golf, but you know plenty of people that are looking for a way to get started in the game, this is their opportunity - $99 for 4 clinics and 1 playing experience. Call Tim Keller at the golf shop at (615) 847-4001, or email him at tkeller@pga.com. You can also register online at www.playgolfamerica.com.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

The Symposium On Affordable Golf is held annually in Southern Pines, North Carolina and is sponsored by Richard Mandell Golf Architecture.  Richard Mandell, the principal in the firm, feels that one of golf’s biggest problems is that it costs too much for golfers to play.  Said another way, many of golf’s other problems may be less impactful in a $40 round of golf as compared to a $125 round of golf.

The mission of the Symposium On Affordable Golf is to raise awareness and understanding of the challenges of the golf industry through open discussion, exchange of ideas and the highlighting of successes that promote the health and sustainability of the game of golf.  In planning for this year’s Symposium, a survey is being conducted in an effort to gather information about the golf experience that the golfer – you - really wants to have.

Thus far, the survey has shown good results. However, they primarily represent the opinions of low handicap, male golfers.  This is an opportunity for women golfers to be heard.

Please go to the survey website  at: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22EG9LPVMXR and provide your input.  The results of the survey will be presented and discussed at the Symposium On Affordable Golf on October 29 and 30, 2012.  There is no cost to attend the symposium.  You can learn more about the Symposium at www.symposiumonaffordablegolf.com.
