March 2 Fairway Friends Event

David L Baker Golf Course was invaded by a dozen EWGA-OC ladies who were willing to have fun and had a desire to learn the game of golf!

The day began with the Course Professional, Derek, leading a 30 minute clinic that covered tips on swinging an iron club. He spent time with every participant, giving them feedback on their swing and areas for improvement. New EWGA member Iris Lagrimes commented that his advise was very helpful.

The ladies played 18 holes with some highlights being: 2 almost eagles, at least one par by everyone, a few chip-ins and some great long putts that had the group cheering!

Several ladies took advantage fo the Fairway Friends mentoring program and all were impressed at their mentor's level of golf knowledge, ability and patience.

The day ended at the Parkside Grill where the ladies ate, drank and shared stories of their round. Cheryl, who attend the event as a guest, loved the experience so much she used her Iphone to sign up as an EWGA member.

A great turnout of 33 OC golfers and great weather combined for wonderful day at Tijeras Creek. We had several new members join for this event, and great comments were shared by our new members.

A lot of excitement ! Out of 17 matches 6 ended "all square" or winning on the last hole. These matches gave our OC ladies a great opportunity to practice under competitive pressure.

This even had participants who had indicated they had little or no prior match play experience. As a group they all appreciated the match play information shared with them by others in their foursome. Thank you to all!

To our new members hope you had a good time and want to come back to join us again real soon!
