Golf Club of Estrella

Phoenix Metro headed west to the beautiful Golf Club of Estrella.  We had classic Arizona spring weather, mid 70's and a very light breeze. We had a Crier's event, so you got to eliminate your 3 worst holes and it made for some great scoring.

Mary C-M and Chris K won the closest to the hole contests and Patty K won longest putt.

Our flight winners were Lori M, Patty K, Myrna T and Hiroko K! Great playing ladies!

Seville Golf and Country Club Member Appreciation Day

Phoenix Metro ventured to the far east part of the valley to enjoy a day of golf and cameraderie at the beautiful private Seville Golf and Country Club.

Recognition was given to the board members and all of the volunteers who have helped make this chapter what it is today.  We also celebrated winning the membership award from National with buffet luncheon, prior to play.

Play was delayed, but all was not lost.  LPGA professionals, Beth Bader and Alena Sharp, gave an impromptu question and answer clinic to our members. They did a demonstration and had a closest to the hole contest on the range which was won by Patty Kimball.

Phoenix Metro did themselves proud by completing the round in 4 hours, before darkness set in, kudos to everyone for great play and a great day.

McDowell Mountain Golf Club

Phoenix Metro played in North Scottsdale in March, it started out as a cold morning, but turned into a beautiful day as 20 players came out to enjoy the newly remodeled, McDowell Mountain Ranch Golf Club.  PGA tour icon Phil Mickelson's design group transformed the property into a wonderful gem of a course.

Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day theme. Lisa B. Chris T and Lynn B won the on course skills challenges.  Great playing ladies! Chris T. and Lori M. won the Best Nine low gross and low net prizes.  Door prizes were won by Debra Z., Ann P. and Cindy J.  Millie H won the St. Paddy's day gift basket.

I slacked and didn't take a lot of pictures, but here's the group shot.

Gainey Ranch Golf Club Playdate

The Phoenix Metro enjoyed a fun filled day of golf at Gainey Ranch Golf Club, a gorgeous private course in Scottsdale.  Members and guests were able to bask in the beautiful sunshine of an 78 degree Winter day. This is why we live in Arizona!

We played the Arroyo/Lakes courses, so got a combination of water and desert to keep you interested.

Carol Z. won closest to the hole on #2 on the Arroyo Course and Barb M. won closest to the hole on #4 on the Lakes Course. Great shots ladies!

Also to get ready for Valentine's Day there was a Valentine's Day survival kit gift basket. Debra Z. won the basket.  Lori M, Mary A and Julie B won the door prizes.

Phoenix Metro Season Opener at Lookout Mountain

Phoenix Metro kicked off the 2012 golf events season at Pointe Lookout Mountain Golf Club.  25 wonderful women participated and each participant also donated non perishable food items for the Neighborhood Ministries.

As a reward for the donation, each group was able to play a hole with the 1988 LPGA Rookie of the Year Stephanie Farwig. Stephanie also works with the Neighborhood Ministries.

We also got a chance to play with EWGA members from Pennsylvania, who were out visiting.  This is what EWGA is about, you can go all over the country and always find a game with women who are passionate about golf.

The day started a little chilly, but warmed up and everyone was able to get home to watch the 49ers/Giants game.  A great way to start the season.

Arizona Biltmore-Adobe Course

Today, the Phoenix Metro Chapter pretended we were in Ireland, playing golf in the wind and the rain. Living in Arizona, many of us have become fair weather golfers and don't do wind and rain. Why should we? We have 9 months of great weather and 3 months of so-so golfing weather.

I want to thank the 18 brave souls, who came out for our season finale, it was a lot of fun, eventhough the event was shortened due to rain.

We will be back to the Biltmore, when the conditions are worthy of Arizona.

I slacked on my photography duties, so there are only a few pictures.

Rally for the Cure

The Phoenix Metro Chapter hosted a Rally for the Cure event on October 16, 2011.  With 51 participants it was the largest event hosted in recent Chapter history.  Everyone opened their pocket books and helped raise over 1700.00 to donate to Rally for the Cure and branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Our Beat the Pro, which was impossible  as our pro Peggy Gustafson got an ace!

Everyone one had a great time and the course generously donated the food for after play.  It made for a great event!

Trilogy at Vistancia

The Phoenix Metro Chapter ventured to Northwest Phoenix to play the beautiful Trilogy at Vistancia golf course.
The course was in great shape for late in the season and the greens were challenging and rolled very true.

A fun day of golf and a chance to enjoy a gorgeous Arizona day with a great group of women.

Desert Dove 2011

The Phoenix Metro Chapter ventured to Green Valley to Canoa Ranch Golf Resort for the annual Desert Dove Match against Tucson Old Pueblo Chapter.

Day one was met with beautiful views and a blackout! A monsoon came out of nowhere and knocked out the power, but didn't dampen our spirits.  Being resourceful and with the help of Danielle, our gracious clerk.  We weathered the blackout watching the US open until the power came on.

Day One

Power was restored and we headed to Canoa Ranch for a great day of golf. We couldn't have dialed up better weather. Even the rattlesnake we saw on the 5th hole enjoyed the weather! Yikes! The matches were hard fought and Tucson prevailed 61.5 to 46.5.  Congratulations to the Old Publeo...wait 'til next year!

Day Two

Hot Stix Golf Open House

The Phoenix Metro Chapter had a night of indoor fun at Hot Stix Golf Corporate Headquarters.

It was a fun time to meet new people who share the love of golf and to learn about the mental game of golf.

Dr. Debbie Crews was a keynote speaker, who gave us tips which we can use on the course everyday and also in every day life.

There was a putting contest and a closest to the hole contest, where we got to play the 7th hole at Pebble Beach!  The winners received putter fittings, iron fittings and there was a drawing for a driver fitting!

The Ping rep was also there to give us information on their line of clubs specific for women, a ton of great information all in one place.

Thanks, Hot Stix!

Wildfire Golf Event

The Phoenix Metro Chapter ventured to North Phoenix to test their game at Wildfire Golf Club.   We played the Faldo course, whose back nine was the back nine of the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup.  Now we know why we are amatuers.  Everyone had a good time and now can cool off for our next event at Trilogy at Vistancia.

Temps in the high 80's,cool pines and absolutely gorgeous scenery! Everyone had a great time, although some lost all of their golf balls, it was a great time.  The Rim Golf Club was a beauty to behold.

I enjoyed the beauty of Chaparral Pines so much and the course completely demanded my attention, I forgot to take more pictures, my bad. Sunday was a beautiful day and the course was a different challenge from Saturday, but still a lot of fun.

Nine members of the Phoenix Metro Chapter went to beautiful Santa Barbara, CA with a chance of advancing to Nationals in Palm Springs.

We had excitement, some tense moments and most of all a lot of fun, we even had a playoff with Patty Kimball, but it was not meant to be this year. I just have to say look out at we'll be back next year better than ever.

We had three players bring home lovely trophies
