2012 San Diego Virtual League
Welcome to the 2012 EWGA San Diego Chapter’s 2nd annual Virtual League. Our virtual league is aimed at providing our members a chance to play competitive golf in a fun environment. Players will compete within 2 flights based on their handicaps. The program is designed to help new and veteran golfers play in a slightly competitive, yet friendly environment.
Players of all skill levels are welcome. To be eligible, you simply need to have an established 18 hole handicap of less than 40. As part of your EWGA membership you have free online access to our handicap system called Golf Life Management System (GLMS). Our local Handicap Chair, Dorothea, can assist you with any questions. You will be required to maintain a handicap participate in this league either through EWGA or another local handicap service. To be eligible for year-end prizes, you will be required to play a minimum of five of the total San Diego stroke play long course events throughout the season plus one short course event. Once you sign up for the Virtual League, you are eligible to start the friendly competition. You will need to register separately for each long-course event. Guidelines / Rules:
Virtual League participants must play a minimum of five total long course rounds PLUS one short-course event to be eligible for end-of-year prizes
- Virtual League play will follow normal USGA stroke play rules – no “gimmes”, you must hole out on each hole
- The Virtual League fee will for 2012 will be $20 and proceeds will be used to support year-end prizes. The full virtual league fee must be paid at time of registration; prior to participating in any of the virtual league games.
- Virtual league participants will be required to register and pay for each individual event they play during the season
- Our competition will consist of two flights.
- Scoring will be cumulative for the 5 long-course rounds plus a 5 stroke credit for playing the short-course event; winners will be awarded based on the lowest cumulative net score for all 5 long-course rounds minus the 5 stroke credit. If you play more than 5 rounds, your score will be based on the best net scores for 5 of your total long-course rounds.
- First, second, and third place will be awarded in each flight based on the LOWEST cumulative total for the five rounds
- Always be prepared to play ready golf. As safety permits, play ready golf from tee to green.
- To maintain pace of play, please pick up at 10 strokes and mark you scorecard appropriately
Please make sure you turn in your scorecard and ensure that you complete your score for all 18 holes – Write legibly as all scores are double checked before scoring is completed.
