Get Involved
GET INVOLVED!
EWGA is a volunteer-driven organization, and our success depends on volunteer efforts. Volunteering can be fun, and you don't have to be familiar with all the aspects of golf to be a volunteer. In fact, volunteering is the best way to learn. Many of the positions will only take a few hours of your time each month, and some may only take a few hours once a year!
Getting involved as a volunteer with EWGA helps you learn how to play better golf with the added benefit of networking with a group of women golfers who may soon become your playing partners, business colleagues, and a great circle of friends with a passion for golf!
Beginner Golf
-
The Beginner Golf Committee is an important subset of the Golf Education & Player Development (GEPD) committee. The committee's role is to put together education and development programs for members who are new to the game of golf. Committee members serve as special advocates for the Chapter's newer golfers, welcoming them into the organization, nurturing their development as golfers, and helping them transition to mainstream Chapter programs and activities.
Communications
-
The Communications Committee is a great way to be in the know! This committee works to keep everyone “in the know”. They create and publish Chapter newsletters, assist in the development and maintenance of the website and have the opportunity to work with the media.
Golf Programs (Education, Player Development and Social Events) -
The Golf Education & Player Development Committee works with golf professionals to schedule education and development programs for the Chapter, including lessons and both winter and summer clinics. The committee also provides program feedback to EWGA Headquarters (HQ) for the ongoing improvement of the organization's programs.
Golf Events -
Do you enjoy planning and running successful events? Never planned an event, but would like to have the opportunity? Then Golf Events is for you! This team plans and implements organized play opportunities in addition to league offerings for players of all skill levels.
Handicaps
-
The Handicap Committee is comprised of members who are familiar with the game of golf and have a general knowledge of handicapping. Members do not have to be handicap experts, but should be willing to use available resources for handling chapter handicapping needs and issues. Committee members also actively encourage Chapter members to obtain and maintain handicaps.
Leagues -
The League Committee is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing the Chapter's golf league schedule. The League Committee strives to have enough committee members to effectively and easily oversee the running of all leagues and to ensure member enjoyment.
Member Recruitment -
The Membership Committee is responsible for spearheading the growth and retention efforts of the Chapter. Among other responsibilities, the committee sets annual membership growth and retention goals and develops the strategies and tactics to meet those goals.
Social Events -
Are you a people person? A natural networker? This is a great way to get to know the members of the Association by promoting fellowship and business networking. This committee plans an array of non-golf activities to meet members’ needs.
Sponsorship -
Are you a great fundraiser? Can you make the call to the decision-maker? If you said “yes” then the Sponsorship Committee is your new home! Help develop Chapter partnerships and secure sponsorship dollars and in-kind donations for Chapter operations. This is a great way to get involved in the community and build local relationships.
