Meet Your Chapter Leaders

Board of Directors

 President  Arlene Franklin

Secretary  - Janet Wheeler

I started playing golf very sporadically years ago, and joined the EWGA Boston Chapter so I would have the opportunity to play on a regular basis.  Since I joined the EWGA in 2005, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing in leagues, meeting new people, and trying to "master" the game of golf.

I have been the secretary for a number of school and municipal organizations over the years and can bring that experience to the leadership group.  I look forward to volunteering with the Board and continuing to promote the fun and camaraderie of women's golf.

Treasurer - Robin Duffy

I have been a member of the EWGA since 2008. I started playing golf about 15 years ago when I was working in Public Accounting.  Each year I would play in a few best ball tournaments with clients.  After a couple of years I was being asked to play in a few more tournaments because I could drive the ball and this gave me more opportunities to meet clients and to get out of the office.  I didn’t really start to play weekly until one weekend when I played with a then potential contact who was a member of the EWGA.  Prior to joining the EWGA I worked as a Certified Public Accountant.  I current work in the private sector as an Area Controller for a Public Company.  I look forward to working with the other members of the Board and to play golf as often as the New England weather will let us.

Immediate Past President  - Nancy Coleman

I started playing golf when I turned 30. I was in a sales position, and some co-workers introduced me to the game -- I was hooked!

Joining EWGA in 2003 was a great experience. I was a bit hesitant about my own beginner golf skills, but the women in our chapter made me feel welcome, and never intimidated. I can’t say enough about the wonderful people I’ve met through our chapter and the great friendships developed.

Education

Education Chair - Deb Kirk

I became addicted to golf after my first lessons in 2002 and cannot get enough of the game.  I probably watch way too much Golf Channel but what else is a Northern golfer to do all winter!  I joined the EWGA in 2009 and immediately felt comfortable with the group -- so comfortable that I assumed a board position for my second year.

I enjoy playing the weekend events; we get to play some amazing courses.  My favorite course is Cyprian Keyes, but I could do without its 13th hole.  I look forward to playing some new courses this year and meeting more great people who share my love for this game.

Handicap

Handicap Chair  - Jill Tyzack

I started playing golf sometime in the 1990s and have been a member of EWGA since 2003.   My parents were avid golfers and in my early twenties, they paid for me to have golf lessons.   However, since it was their idea and not mine, I wasn’t very interested.  If only I had started golf then, maybe I wouldn’t be struggling with a high handicap now!

My golf goals for this year are to lower my handicap and to break 100.

Membership Chair  - Karen Cardillo

A member since 1998, I keep busy volunteering in the Chapter and was honored to receive the 2010 Ambassador award. Recently, I have coordinated the Monday Pine Oaks League and the Wednesday Brookmeadow League. I have served in the past as Vice President and volunteered for many weekend events.

You will find me to be an avid golfer who advocates for women to learn and play golf. My goal this year is to help bring the Boston Chapter up to the next level, help shape the future of this great organization, and help to keep this Chapter strong by reaching out to more women.

Golf Events

Golf Events Chair  - Lyndsay Oglesby

I joined the EWGA in 2010 after being relocated to Boston for work. Coming from Southern California, my network here was pretty limited, so I joined as a way to meet people outside of work who share my passion for playing golf. And while I was hesitant about joining at first – not knowing what I would be getting into - the experience over the last couple of years has far exceeded my expectations! I have made some great friends while enjoying the opportunity to play at some of the finest courses in New England.

As the Events Chair my goal for this year is to provide members with access to some great golf courses while enhancing the networking and social opportunities during events. I look forward to seeing you on the course!
