Add Your Voice to WE ARE GOLF Coalition

One of the coalition's primary objectives is to reverse legislation passed in 2005 and again in subsequent years that excluded public golf courses from being eligible for disaster relief assistance. The WE ARE GOLF coalition intends to have this legislation amended so that public golf courses will be eligible for assistnace. We are asking U.S. EWGA members to consider writing letters (a sample copy is attached) to your Congressman and Senators asking them to repeal the provision that excludes public golf courses from disaster relief assistance. Feel free to amend the letter as you see fit. And please let the Golf 20/20 staff know you wrote and who you wrote to. Email syoung@worldgolffoundation.org. Thank you for your consideration of this request. We will continue to keep you informed of this proposed legislation and the golf industry's efforts to amend it.

Bonnie Ogden of the EWGA Greater Knoxville Chapter shares her Shrimp Quinoa recipe (page 152) and some fun facts, too: Quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) is a complete protein grain found in the health food departments of most grocery stores. It is grown in the Andes Mountains and was so important to the Inca culture that they referred to it as the Mother Grain. Bonnie says, "Eat, enjoy, and have the mother of all rounds of golf."

2011 Golfpalooza Videos and Photos Now Posted

EWGA Honors The PGA of America with Inaugural Spirit of Partnership Award

In recognition of The PGA of America's 20 years of support for the EWGA and for its efforts to grow the game of golf for women, the EWGA presented PGA CEO, Joe Steranka, with its first ever Spirit of Partnership Award at the 2011 Golfpalooza. The EWGA thanks The PGA of America!

EWGA's Honored with LPGA Futures Golf Tour 2010 Trainor Award

The Trainor Award, established in 1999 in honor of the Futures Tour Founder, Eloise Trainor, annually honors an individual or organization that has made an exceptional contribution to women's golf. The EWGA is the recipient of the 2010 Trainor Award and the presentation will take place at the conclusion of the LPGA Futures Tour's Daytona Beach Invitational on Sunday, April 3. All EWGA membes who can attend are welcome to be a part of the festivities on the 18th hole as this award truly honors every dedicated EWGA member who has attracted others to embrace the sport of golf. A permanent trophy, displayed at LPGA headquarters, bears the name of each year's winner. EWGA will receive a replica of the permanent trophy. Thank you Future's Tour for this honor, and thank you, EWGA members for making it possible!

EWGA Foundation's Cookbook Committee Selects Winning Cookbook Cover Design

Sheri Harvey, EWGA Genesee County, MI Chapter, created the winning design for the cover of the EWGA Foundation's commemorative cookbook, 'Recipes for Success- On and Off the Course'.

About the winning cookbook cover designer, Sheri Harvey:

Having played golf for only a few years, Sheri, a freelance graphic designer with her own company - Shar Graphics - based in Lapeer, Michigan, joined the EWGA Genesee County, MI Chapter in 2010 and has quickly gotten involved. She has joined the Chapter's new league and participated on the scramble team which competed in the EWGA Upper Midwest Championship Semi-Finals. Next year, Sheri will be the Chapter's Communications Chair. Congratulations, Sheri, on your winning design!

In 2011, the EWGA will turn 20! As part of our anniversary year celebration, the EWGA Foundation will be publishing a cookbook called "Recipes for Success - On and Off the Course." and we need the help of EWGA members to make it happen! EWGA members are invited to submit recipes for inclusion in this special book. This cookbook will include recipes for busy businesswomen on the go, plus "recipes" for fun golf events and games on the course. The book will be unveiled at the April 2011 Golfpalooza at Amelia Island Plantation in Florida. Advance order sales will launch this fall.

If you have a family specialty or recipe to share, we invite you to be part of the EWGA Foundation's "Recipes for Success." There are two ways to submit recipes for consideration:
